Will Republicans get rid of Birth Control?
It’s hard to say if Republicans will fully "get rid" of birth control, but there are certainly some who want to limit access to it. Right now, birth control is widely available and legal, but certain far-right lawmakers have expressed interest in restricting access to forms of contraception they consider controversial, like emergency contraception or IUDs.
While it's unlikely that birth control will be completely banned anytime soon, efforts to roll back access could intensify, especially if conservative lawmakers push for laws that limit which types of birth control are available or make it harder for people to get prescriptions. Some states may try to impose more restrictions, while others are likely to fight hard to protect access.
The good news is that there's strong public support for birth control, and many people are actively working to ensure it remains accessible. So, while there are threats, there's also a lot of energy focused on keeping birth control available for everyone who needs it. The more people who know and loudly disagree with the lawmakers, the more success we will have in challenging this.
